(SPOT.ph) With most of us staying or working from our homes most days of the week in the ongoing pandemic, looking for opportunities to go beyond the four walls of our houses has become a big part of the “new normal”. And what better way to level up the experience than by dining in places with fantastic views to boot? We’ve gathered a list of restaurants and cafés where you can take pleasure in good food with accompanying views without leaving the Metro.

Treat your eyes and your taste buds at these restaurants with a view in Manila

1. La Cathedral Café

Most Manila roofdeck restaurants boast breathtaking views of the cityscape, but not all have a splendid view of a historical monument like the Manila Cathedral. La Cathedral Café is an alfresco spot that is beautiful during the day, and even more so at night when the hanging capiz lanterns are all lit up against the dark sky and with the lighted church in the background as well. Have a cup of Red Velvet Latte (starts at P150/grande), or go for the classic Chicken Alfredo (P245/solo, P575 sharing) while you enjoy the somewhat European vibe. Walk-ins are welcome, but it’s best to make a reservation if you plan to dine in from 3 p.m. onwards.

La Cathedral Café is at 398 Cabildo Street corner Beaterio Street, Intramuros, Manila.

2. Brasserie on 3

From a breakfast buffet to a hearty lunch or date-worthy options for dinner, Brasserie on 3 has it all. Conrad Hotel’s all-day dining restaurant has open kitchen theaters and live-action stations to entertain the guests, but its outdoor seating area with stunning views of Manila Bay is the one that would take your breath away. Have a flavor-filled journey with its stellar lineup of dishes made from sustainably sourced, seasonal ingredients through The Gourmet Festival (P2,200/lunch, P2,400/dinner)—a set menu which features a mix of dishes from the East and West, as well as Filipino dishes. Add free-flowing wines and soda (P790) to wash it all down.

Brasserie on 3 is at 3/F, Conrad Manila, Seaside Boulevard, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.

3. Straight Up, Makati

Miss date nights or lounging with friends? Chill out at Straight Up, the signature cocktail bar and lounge of Seda Hotels. You’re likely familiar with their BGC outpost, but their newest location at Seda Residences Makati is well worth the visit too. Prepare to have your breath taken away with their fashionable interiors and a notable skyline of the city’s central business district—making it the perfect place to nurse a glass of wine, cocktail, or craft beer. Try the local brew Engkanto Draft (P245/300ml, P310/500ml) and pair it with pica-pica like Ceviche Taquitos (P420), which features the fresh catch of the day in a traditional taco shell. Best to make table reservations since operations are subject to community quarantine guidelines.

Straight Up is at 35/F Seda Residences Makati, Ayala North Exchange-Tower 1, Legazpi Village, Makati City.

4. Seoul Sky Restaurant

What sets Seoul Sky apart from other restaurants is that it offers a 360-degree view of Metro Manila, plus a peek at the glorious range of Sierra Madre. This one-of-a-kind revolving restaurant elevates the dining experience to a whole new level indeed. With each bite of authentic Korean food, you’ll get a different view outside. Take your pick from its special Korean BBQ set menus (starts at P3,200/good for 4) or order à la carte dishes like the Bulgogi Stew in Pot (P450). Yes, you’ll get the best seat in the house wherever you’re seated, but it’s still better to make a booking.

Seoul Sky Restaurant is at 33/F, MDC 100 Eastwood Avenue corner E. Rodriguez, Bagumbayan, Quezon City.

Dining under wide-open skies with sweeping views of the city makes for quite a romantic setting, especially if you time it during sunset. Expect timeless favorites from the restaurant’s modern Asian grill menu crafted by Executive Chef Luis Chikiamco and a selection of expertly prepared drinks. Treat yourself to a plate of US Rib-Eye Izakaya and complement it with any of the soju cocktails. Do take note that advanced reservations are highly encouraged here.

Book a table for dinner and spoil yourself with anything from the charcoal grill or sample the off-the-menu specialty, Slow-Cooked Beef Ribs. Then linger for some after-dinner drinks and take your pick from its list of sommelier selection, liquor, or spirits. You can’t go wrong with Prosecco (P600/glass, P2,900/bottle)!
