Well-maintained drainage keeps the Bay Area’s Central Business Park flood-free
Bay Area has come to its own over the last years, becoming a landmark development amidst the reclamation area in Manila Bay. It’s Central Business Park I-A (CBP I-A), after all, is home to the country’s largest shopping establishment-Mall of Asia and Metro Park, a mixed-use and self-contained residential, commercial, office and institution complex being developed by Federal Land, Inc. CBP I-A is one such project that stands a notch above the rest, starting with its efficient flood control system.
CBP I-A has its own flood control system that is very effective during heavy rains. Diverting floodwater from the development is a big drainage pipe in the middle island of Coral Way and Seaside boulevards. The CBP I-A Association Inc., which counts Federal Land as member, is responsible for keeping the pipe unobstructed.
Association administrator Ernie Encarnacion explains that many areas of Metro Manila get flooded because the drainage system does not have the capacity to handle floodwater. Obstruction in the drainage pipe contributes to the flooding. “During sporadic flooding, we make sure that the drainage inlet is not clogged by garbage and leaves,” says Encarnacion. “Given the importance of drainage system, we at CBP I-A ensures that our systems uses the best possible designs, are made of good quality materials, and are continually maintained. This ensures that our system works properly. If there is obstruction, immediately we will mobilize the association’s ground maintenance crew to remove the garbage in the pipe.”
For future residents, users and visitors of Metro Park, it is reassuring to know that Federal Land took flood management into consideration in the master-planning of the newest destination in Bay Area. Being in a flood-free location bolsters Metro Park’s reputation as a premium address in Metro Manila and to have the best urban living experience in the Bay Area.
